Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Can I use StarterLogg® fire starter in my wood stove or with a fireplace insert?
A. Yes. Breaking the fire starter into 1/2 or 1/4 will be sufficient to start your seasoned firewood.

Q. The StarterLogg® burned but did not start my wood.  Why?
A. Your wood has probably not been seasoned properly and has a high moisture content.  Nothing starts green wood.  The fire starter may have produced enough heat to reduce the moisture. Put a second StarterLogg® on and try again.

Q. Will StarterLogg® clog my chimney?
A. No.  The paraffin wax will completely burn and does not leave a residue.

Q. Can I use StarterLogg® to start my pellet or coal stove?
A. Yes.  Breaking the StarterLogg® into 1/2 or 1/4 should be sufficient.  Use the amount best suited for the size stove you have and the amount of fuel being used.

Q. Does StarterLogg® cause a creosote build-up?
A. Not at all.  Creosote is created by burning softwood, wood that has not seasoned properly or by burning small, slow burning fires.  StarterLogg® contains kiln-dried, hardwood sawdust.

Q. My child or pet has eaten a piece of a StarterLogg®. What should I do?
A. Relax.  StarterLogg® is non-toxic and made of paraffin wax and sawdust.  There are no added chemicals. As with any non-edible product, you should contact your physician or veterinarian.

Q. Can I save my StarterLogg® fire starters to use next season?
A. Yes. You can store StarterLogg® in a cooler location such as a basement or closet and next season they will work just as powerfully as the previous season.

Q. A recent case of StarterLogg® I purchased is slightly darker than in the past.  Why?
A. Color will vary depending on the species of hardwood sawdust used in the StarterLogg®.
